Introduction

What is Alltel Perks?

It is a FREE application for your mobile phone that allows you to receive interesting and valuable information and offers from restaurants and retailers in your area. You will receive exclusive discounts on products and services useful to you, when and where they are most useful.

Why would I want Perks?

Perks sends you exclusive and valuable offers to your phone, as well as providing content filled with fun and useful information for your daily life. You will receive the best offers from local and national businesses about new products, contests and discounted goods and services. In addition to that, you will receive content such as weather information, movie releases, sports scores, fun facts and trivia, etc.

I subscribe to an unlimited data feature as part of my calling plan — what will Perks cost me?

If you subscribe to an unlimited data feature as part of your calling plan, downloading and using the Alltel Perks application is completely free. You are not charged an application download fee, subscription fee, or any transport charges for using the application (including the automatic content and offers feed).

I don’t subscribe to an unlimited data feature as part of my calling plan – what will Perks cost me?

Depending upon your plan, you may incur nominal airtime usage for initially downloading the application.

Once installed, the Alltel Perks service automatically downloads content and offers daily. This daily download is attempted during a period when your phone is idle and airtime usage is free – typically in the middle of the night. If your handset is unable to download content and offers during a free usage period (for example, if the phone is powered off), Alltel Perks may attempt to download content and offers during regular normal airtime hours. In this case, you will be prompted to allow Alltel Perks to download offers and content before it proceeds. If you agree, this will count as normal airtime usage based on your current plan – typically a minute or two of airtime. If you decline, Alltel Perks will not proceed and no airtime usage will be applied, and the application will attempt to download content again during a free usage period.

Will the use of Click-to-Call functions be charged to my bill?

Yes – if you decide to take advantage of one of the offers presented by this service, and that offer is a “Click-to-Call” promotion, you will be charged for normal airtime usage based on your current plan, similar to the charge for any other phone call you may initiate from your mobile phone.

What kind of offers are going to be sent to me?

You’ll receive everything, from daily specials at local restaurants and sales at your favorite stores to prize giveaways for merchandise, food and tickets to sporting events, concerts or movies. You will also receive timely and useful information such as weather and fun information from the world of sports and entertainment.

How can I get Perks on my phone?

First you have to make sure your phone is Perks compatible. A list of eligible devices can be found on the Perks website http://www.alltelperks.com/devices. Once you know your phone is eligible, you can download it from the BREW catalogue by following these instructions:

  1. Open the Main Menu on your phone by clicking the center button between the four arrows on your phone.
  2. Click the Axcess Apps icon (two blue arrows) to enter your application menu.
  3. Click the Axcess Shop icon (shopping cart) to enter the Axcess Shop.
  4. Choose “Catalog” and press the Select button.
  5. Scroll to “Hot Picks” and press the Select button.
  6. Choose " Alltel Perks" from the list and press the Select button to begin downloading.

Is Perks available on all phone models?

No, but the list of compatible phones is always growing!

Will using Perks interfere with my phone service?

No. Perks software is tailored specifically for optimal user experience. It will not interrupt phone calls or other uses of the phone. It is designed to deliver information to your phone when it is not in use.

Will I still be able to store photos, ringtones and contact information?

Yes. Content, discounts and offers presented through Perks require minimal memory, and should not affect the functionality of your phone’s other software and applications. You will be able to download ringtones and games, and store photos and contact information.

When and where will I be able to use Perks?

You will receive Perks anywhere within network coverage areas included in the market test (Cleveland, Ohio and the Washington DC metropolitan area). Offers will be delivered to your phone at various times throughout the day, and you will be able to review previously delivered content for the lifetime of that offer by opening the application at any time.

Can I change my registration information such as ZIP code?

Yes! You can update the ZIP code you would like to receive offers for by visiting http://profile.alltelperks.com and creating your own personal Alltel Perks account. There you will also be able to fill out your user profile and update your content and offer preferences to let us know what you want from the program.

Can I set my phone to only receive a certain type of content or offer?

We are always looking for input on what best fits your needs. Visit http://profile.alltelperks.com and you can update your Alltel Perks preferences and let us know what you're interested in. The more you let us know what you want, the more personalized the service can become!

How will I know when there is a software update available?

We will alert you of all applicable updates through the Perks service. When an application update is available, you will be able to easily obtain the update through Axcess Shop—without having to visit a store.

Is there a service document that I am agreeing to by signing up for Alltel Perks?

Yes—our Terms of Service (TOS) are located online at http://www.alltelperks.com/tos and are also available at authorized stores. If you download the application from the BREW Catalogue, Perks will send you a message asking you to accept TOS. A similar message will be available in your Recent Offers Menu, allowing you to accept TOS at a later time.

How do I open Alltel Perks, or view current offers and content again after they have been dismissed?

A list of current offers is available in the Recent Offers Menu. To reach the Recent Offers Menu:

I received an offer a few days ago. I was planning on using it, but it’s not in my Recent Offers. How do I get it back?

Offers can be applicable for several days, but sometimes are only available for a limited time. On the left side of the Recent Offers Menu there is a graphic that indicates how long an offer is valid:

  • Offer expires in one day
  • Offer expires in two days
  • Offer expires in three days
  • Offer expires in more than three days


The Perks application automatically removes expired offers. If the offer has disappeared from the Recent Offers Menu it cannot be retrieved. Don’t worry—new offers will soon be taking its place.

Can I change the sound the Alltel Perks application makes? Can I turn the volume down or off?

You are able to disable the Perks alert sound by choosing “Options” from within the Recent Offers Menu. While you are in the “Options” menu you can also set your sound option to the following selections:

  • Sound on – your phone will play a sound to alert you that an offer has arrived
  • Vibrate on – your phone will vibrate when an offer has arrived
  • Both – your phone will vibrate and play a sound when an offer has arrived
  • None – your phone will not notify you when an offer has arrived

I was typing a text message when I received an offer. Can I get back to my message draft?

Yes, though the process may differ depending on your phone model. Most phones will not receive offers until you are finished sending your text messages. Some phones will allow you to simply dismiss the offer and return to the text you were entering. If this is not the case, you may be able to retrieve it by going into “Drafts” under the “Messages” folder in the main menu.

I don’t want a certain type of content; is there any way I can block specific offers?

No, but you can let us know! Perks allows you to Rate an Offer—give it a rating out of five stars—that will help us to determine what offers users want most. Offers that do not generate interest are less effective and can then be removed or updated. Rest assured, Perks is always working to send you the most valuable and useful offers possible.

I’m receiving offers too early in the morning/too late at night—what can I do?

You may turn the sound off within the Recent Offers Menu. To disable the Perks alert sound, choose “Options” from within the Recent Offers Menu and select “None.” This will disable the alert sounds of the offers being delivered.

How do I cancel Perks?

If you decide you don’t like receiving Perks, you can delete the software from your phone by going into the Axcess Apps catalog and removing the software. Should you reconsider, you are welcome to re-enroll at anytime.

I’m receiving offers from retailers and restaurants that are not in my area; what can I do?

Please send an email to Customer Service at alltelperkssupport@mobileposse.com and let us know that your address, and specifically your zip code, may be incorrectly labeled in your account information. Accurate information should help ensure that you receive pertinent local offers on your phone.

I’m getting an error [or insufficient memory] message when I try to download ringtones; what do I do?

Your phone memory may be full. With most phone models you can view your available memory right on your phone. Deleting unwanted messages, photos, games or ringtones will help to increase your available memory.
